Holiday Stroll and Fundraiser

Please join us this Saturday, Saturday, December 2, 2006, from 6:00-8:30 pm, along the east side of the 200 block of Congress Avenue as Escuelita del Alma, Las Manitas & La Pena host their annual holiday spirit kickoff & relocation fundraiser.

Every year these downtown, locally- and minority-owned businesses join in the festivities surrounding John Aielli's Sing-Along & Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony at the Capitol by participating in the holiday festivities on Congress Avenue. This year, Escuelita students have created crafts that will be for sale to benefit Escuelita del Alma's relocation project.

El Mercadito de los Niños (Children's Art Market) will consist of utilitarian handmade and decorated holiday gifts by students of the child care center, including miniature clocks, photo frames, decorative recycled paper bowls, decorative wooden plates, paper lamps, Mexican miniature chairs, candles, Christmas ornaments, potpourri. Refreshments and appetizers will be available.

Other entertainment will include:

La Peña Art Gallery -- "Mi Raza de Bronce" art exhibit of mosaic windows by Jorge Castro & Eduardo Rosas; Live music by all female mariachi group "Las Alteñas"

Escuelita del Alma Childcare Center -- "Alumbrando el camino hacia la paz - Lighting the Path Towards Peace" window art exhibit by Students of Escuelita del Alma

Las Manitas -- El Mercadito de los Niños presented by Escuelita staff, students and their parents; Photo Opportunities with Santa Claus

Benefit Happy Hour

Back in September we organized a Happy Hour at La Copa Bar & Grill to benefit our campaign. It was a great success where friends from our community got a chance to mingle for a good cause. Here are a few photos from the event.
